	Music as language, where legacy and contemporary intersect
	

	For this instalment of Fender Sessions, we travel to the iconic Richmond Theatre to team up with UK soul artist, Samm Henshaw. The emerging singer performs live acoustic versions of "Grow", "Loved By You" and "The Cafe" and talks about music as a unique form of sommunication.
	

	Samm Henshaw is an artist who's creative past is rooted in history, from his upbringing in the church and his love of gospel music to his earliest memories of playing instruments. It was important for me to create a space that felt warm and welcoming, allowing us to capture his enigmatic personality and love of music in an authentic light.

	To demonstrate where legacy and contemporary intersect, we created a soulful visual world that was inspired by the rich tones of the Fender guitars and Samm's artistic vision, which is the culmination of many parts of his history.The 20 minute documentary employs an almost ephemeral look and feel, using filmic cues and a combination of mediums to create a raw, yet beautiful cinematic approach to storytelling. The old theatre served as the perfect backdrop to an entire universe of emotions, the magical shadows of the wings and back corridors, to the decadent chandeliers of the main theatre and the sanctity of the green room.

	An interview with Samm served as the backbone, creating a moment for fans of Samm and Fender to connect on a deeper level. Punctuating the narrative were three performances captured in single takes on a steadicam. With just two other accompanying guitarists and an empty theatre, Samm's performance was Brough to light with fluid, dream-like camera movement, accentuated by stage lighting to create truly intimate performances.

	I used a stylised documentary lens to breathe new life into the representation of Britain's social landscape; fashioning stories which engage with the personal roles of people's lives; as fathers, mothers, sisters, lovers. I intentionally cast people that juxtaposed the rise of nationalism post Brexit, and referenced the tragedy of Grenfell tower and the Windrush scandal, through emotive, dreamlike sequences. Working with an intergenerational crew from diverse backgrounds behind and in front of the camera, we fostered a depth of beauty in each individual’s narrative. The conscientiously crafted narrative of these stories was set against a backdrop of iconic London areas and the Sussex coastline.

	A rallying cry for an equitable society charged by purposeful action
	

	For London songwriter Amahla, true solidarity is practical not symbolic. Her second single release post lockdown, "Do Something You Can't Take Back" serves as a reminder that activism is everyday and highlights the importance of using our voice to take a stand for what we believe in.
	

	The simplistic approach to cinematography is a perfect accompanyment to the music production, which uses a minimalistic arrangement to place Amahla's message front and centre. For Amahla, the song is a plea towards practical activism, urging listeners to put well meaning social media platitudes into IRL use.

		<description>Walking in the shoes of self made women

	
	I was commissioned to launch the new PUMA X Mayu shoe to a young GEN Z audience, in partnership with Footlocker and Size, and build upon the brands reputation through valuable storytelling


	To promote the shoe, I took a personable approach and directed a 3 part series bringing women together to share their stories of entering the fashion industry. As stylists, photographers, and jewellery and nail business owners, women offer their advice, tapping into shared interests and near-future aspirations.

	I focused on accessorising each story with inspiring hues of youthful energy, to create an accessible, everyday ambience, bubberling with PUMA energy. This provided an overarching feeling of approachability to the women’s stories, encouraging the audience to connect on a personal level.
